Therapeutic Approach

I work with individuals and couples. Some of the conditions and issues that I treat are: anxiety, panic, trauma , stress, life transitions, relationship dysfunction, grief and loss, depression, and compulsive behaviors. Current research, my professional training and experience as a therapist confirm that a wide range of clients and their conditions benefit from both cognitive and somatic therapies.

Cognitive therapy explores the negative patterns in our thinking and beliefs and their effects on our emotions and behaviors. Somatic therapy brings the additional focus on bodily awareness of physical sensations and movement to offer a whole MIND/BODY approach.

As your therapist I will encourage you to explore your Whole Self in our work together. We take the time in our sessions to notice, experience and talk about your thoughts, beliefs, feelings and any information your body might hold. Some of my clients, if recommended, continue our therapy outside of our sessions through bibliotherapy (books and workbooks), journaling, writing, viewing relevant or recommended films, applying mindfulness practices in their daily life and creative expression. I welcome any questions you may have about these approaches to therapy.
